An easy reading, interesting depiction of man’s history in the Grand Canyon. Early river runners, miners, settlers, fortune hunters, etc. A nice companion and supplement to Belknap’s Grand Canyon River Guide.

Reviews:
“The successes and failures, and the courage, of early Grand Canyon river runners is here. Every river runner should have a copy in his or her ‘ammo can.'” Roderick Nash, Professor of History and Environmental Studies, University of California, Santa Barbara, and author of Wilderness and the American Mind

“Everything in [the book] is immensely interesting to all who participate in a Canyon voyage, probably because, being human, we find the natural scene too strange and overwhelming to be full comprehended and enjoyed for its own sake alone.” From the foreword by Edward Abbey

About the Author:
Kim Crumbo worked as a professiona river runner for over twenty years and served as a U.S. Navy Seal in Vietnam. He has logged over 30,000 miles on the Colorado River.
